So, I watched a movie called The Barbie Diaries with my sisters. It's about Barbie as a teenager in her sophomore year of highschool. It was one of the most cliche-ish movies I have ever seen. *Warning* I am going to give the whole plot of the movie to you. ( which you'll figure out two minutes into the movie anyways)Barbie has two friends in a band, and one best friend who is a guy. You all may want to take note, I don't quite approve of the whole boy/girl "we're best friends" thing. She has a crush on the "hottest" guy at school. She also wants to be the anchor for the school news channel. The guy asks her out, and then dumps her two days later. She decides to go undercover in the popular crowd, to see what "makes them popular". Needless to say, she decides that she likes being popular, blows off her friends and they hate her. She does something "sacrificial" and they like her again. she ends up with her "best friend" and the film ends on one of their "movie night."
I believe this movie shows how much our society has been desensitized to the whole dating scene . The girl couldn't have been more than 15, and she has already awoken her heart to love, which the bible says not to do.
Song of Solomon 8:4
Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires.
The world tries so hard to impose upon us the dating mindset; to the point that when we see a 13 year old dating, we think nothing of it! Every Disney show, every movie about teenagers in this century, all of them end with someone dating! In the movie Barbie dated two guys in about a week. She was holding the first guys hand, and the second guy she "danced" with. And you know what's sad? This was one of the only teenage movies/shows I've seen where no one kissed anyone.
Hannah Montana was actually a pretty cute show with only rare episodes where she liked someone. Now, the entire show is about her liking someone. Her show is hardly a kids show; Her music videos are no longer rated G. Why? Because of the small steps(and sometimes large steps) she took towards arousing love; not only on the show, but in her real life. First, it is a guy she has a crush on for a year, and they end up dating, and fall in love, and it's the perfect happy ending. Until they break up. Then she is miserable, depressed, and needs a new guy to fill her life. Then the next guy she gets a date with, she falls even harder for, she kissed more then once and then, they break up?
A wonderful pastor once said, "Dating is practice for divorce." Ouch. Now I'm am by no means saying that all dating ends in divorce, but when you are 13 not able to get married for five years, than it certainly does not help to break up with ten guys.
Other shows have come to this same fate. Sony+Chad Dillon Cooper. Bailey +Cody. Zach +every girl aboard. It's time to face the facts. We have been brainwashed drastically by the media; every show from preteen+ has at least some subliminal romance. Most of the time it's not even subliminal!
Now, don't get me wrong, I love a good show as much as much as the next guy, but we need to come to grips with the anti-purity message that the media is sending us. It is rare to find someone who has saved their first kiss for their wedding day. Why is that? It used to be rare to find someone who hadn't saved their first kiss! In this day and age we need to continually put up our guard against the lusts of this world. If we choose to watch those shows, it's one thing. It's another thing to watch those shows more than anything else; to obsess over whether or not they will be together.
In this day and age, young girls have boyfriends, preteens are "falling in love." Purity is getting harder and harder to come by. Is Nothing Sacred?
Matthew 7:6
"Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.

Early Mornings, Trashcans, Squirrels,Arbors, and Spiders.
This morning I woke up at 6:30 to go and weed. That was the first problem. Just so you all know, only cool people weed at 6:30. Anyways, I was out under the spruce tree, working hard when I hear a sound. Not just any sound, like a mariachi band, or a singing frog. No, this was a special sound. It was the sound of trashcans being thrown to the ground. "Oh." I thought to myself,"It's probably our friendly neighborhood hobo again." Every week or so he comes around and knocks over our trashcans, ad looks for recyclables. Now, I know he's trying to save the earth, but I think in that case it should be the environmentalists knocking over the trashcans. Notice the last part of the word, "environMENTALIST" That pretty much explains my feelings on saving the trees.Don't listen to them they're all psycho. Back to my story. I was ducking down, hoping he wouldn't see me when a squirrel starts yelling at me. You may say, "Squirrels don't talk." but I believe they do. In fact, I speak squirrel. He was telling me to go weed a different part of the yard. So I decided to weed underneath the Arbor. I really don't know why they call it that. Why not, "the arch" or the "upside down half pipe" That would make a lot more sense. Seriously. Anywho, I waked right to the arbor, and I about walked into a spider web with a spider in it. Like an inch away. It was scary. Like, more scary than the fact that KJ52 turned 35 this year*sob* So I stepped away from the arbor, blew the spider and hoped he would fall down,(all the while the squirrel is still yelling at me) and I kept blowing, but it was to no avail. so instead I went inside and sorted laundry. This was not just any ordinary laundry, it was EXTRA-ordinary.
