I liked:
- The structure. It had just enough conflict to make it suspenseful, and just enough resolution to make you temporarily relieved.
- The celestial realm description. It was amazing to me how accurately the author describes things like fear, and guilt.
- The character’s thoughts. The author really knows how to get into the character’s head. I appreciate this.
- The humor. While I love books where I laugh non-stop, I also love a good suspense book where I laugh at certain sections, but it does not override the storyline.
I disliked:
- The Lack of God. While there was a lot of mention of the spiritual realm, there wasn’t too many phrases about God.
- A little too much romance. They described two (or three) kisses between Jake and Brielle. While I thought they were appropriately timed, I deemed them unnecessary.
- A bit of theology. I didn’t love her talking about God allowing people to die.
Overall:
I sat down at 10 am Memorial day and finished it that afternoon. It was really interesting, and I don’t think I can wait until February to read the next one! The good definitely outweighs the bad. I would definitely recommend this book to readers 16+.
Thanks to the Litfuse Publicity group for allowing me to be a part of this blog tour.
