Book Review: Fashioned to Reign by Kris Vallotton

Are women living up to their full potential? Are they growing where God has planted them?  In this controversial, yet intensely researched book, Kris Vallotton shares God’s plan for women, and what role God originally designed them for.
I really liked this book. Kris Vallotton has a gift and a calling of writing. Unlike many non-fiction books I have read, Kris literally always keeps my interest while I am reading. I have read quite a few of his books, and I always love the authenticity Kris Vallotton has. His books are not pretentious at all, yet he is still very well written and researched. Another thing I love is that Kris does not force you to agree with him, he always shares his opinion unwaveringly, but he also encourages you to search out the scriptures for yourself, and find out what God has told you about any given topic.
This book had a lot of interesting information, and I really liked reading the different interpretations of controversial scriptures. (i.e. the “Women should be silent” scripture, among various others. Kris’s theories are rooted in scripture, and besides a couple of paragraphs, I wholeheartedly agreed with the book. Again, whenever I disagreed with something, Kris’s book, I was urged to delve into the scriptures and search out my answer. Overall, I would highly recommend Fashioned to Reign, along with any of Kris’s other books, to any lady who feels like she doesn’t measure up, and to any woman who wants to live the life God has planned for her.

Book review: The Secret Keeper by Beverly Lewis

In this delightfully written novel, Jennifer Burns is making a huge life decision. Feeling fed up with life in modern society, she decided to pursue her childhood dream: to become Amish. To the shock of her family and friends, Jennifer seems right at home in the Amish community, despite making several errors. When Jennifer is forced to keep a secret about one of the pillars of the community, she does not know how to remain true to her faith, and keep all of her new found friends. Will Jennifer be able to continue this difficult lifestyle, or will she have to abandon her lifelong dream?

I loved this book. I sometimes forget how much I like Beverly Lewis’s writing, but she never ceases to impress me! I think this book may have ranked among the best that Beverly has written. Despite reading some reviews that said that it was very predictable, I was actually caught off guard twice at the end. I loved this idea of someone wanting to become Amish, since I have always thought it would be a great experience (usually when I am having technology problems ;) I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Beverly’s books, as well as anyone who enjoys Amish fiction in general. It is perfect as a stand-alone novel, and as part of a series.

Eshakti Review: Chambray button down shirt

When eShakti contacted me to see if I would review a fall item for them, I was ecstatic. If you haven't already been able to tell, I LOVE eShakti. I seriously spen all my free time shopping their website. I used them for my graduation dress, and also for a bridesmaid dress I had to wear, as well as something from their website consistently being on my wishlist. Onto the review!

I decided to request a Chambray button down shirt (This one to be precise) and I requested it to be mid thigh length. When I received it I anxiously tried it on. It fit perfect, and it was exactly as long as I requested it, it just didn't seem to lay right over pants. It ended up almost looking like a peplum, and it wasn't super flattering on me. I checked the measurements, and it was exactly what I ordered, so I decided that I liked it a lot tucked in.
Overall, I think eShakti did a great job. I need to look some more on pinterest for some styling tips, but I can already tell that this shirt is really good quality. It also came with a sash, which is not pictured. I really love how well the shirt fits across my shoulders. It is a really good length to wear with my green skinny jeans, can't wait to wear that outfit!
Overall, if you are shopping around for the perfect top, dress, or skirt, you should look at eShakti.com.  They have a fantastic assortment of clothing, and I have never received an item I didn't love!
