Book review: Whatever by Allia Zobel Nolan





Have you ever wished for a devotional that wasn’t as, for lack of a better word, boring? A devotional that was as interesting as it is scriptural? Wish no longer. Whatever, a tween-girl devotional, is a perfect fit for those who have busy lives. Based on Phillipians 4:8-13 (Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things.)  This 90-day-devotional helps young girls ages 12-16 to learn to control their thought life, and to therefore change their life.
I liked:

  •  The comfortable-to-read feeling. It was fairly simple, but in a good way. It seemed to me that it was a perfect style for a tween/teen devotional.
  •  The managability. Each devotion can be read easily in under five minutes a day, and with school, friends, and homework, that is always helpful.
  • The relateable stories. I did like that their were numerous stories that I could effortlessly relate to.

I disliked:

  • A few of the devotion’s stories were a little corny, but there were very few out of the ninety that were this way.

Overall, this book is a great book for a new believer, or even an older one depending on the circumstance. This is a great devotional for ages 11-16
